A non-profit organization founded by long-time friends with one simple mission: Spreading kindness hand to hand, heart to heart.
Who We Are
Project: In Kind is a local community service organized by three retired friends to “Spread Kindness Hand to Hand, Heart to Heart.” We attend local events and markets in our area to promote kindness. When someone stops to get a cookie, it provides the opportunity to talk about the benefits of being kind. Our educational outreach to local schools reaches parents, students, and staff members. We provide information about the importance of being kind and information about curriculum to teach kindness.
What We Do
We give out cookies, bookmarks, books, or other small items in exchange for the recipient’s promise to complete his/her stated good deed. This helps to promote kindness and is a gentle reminder to people that kindness can change the world.
Project: In Kind had an international beginning. This idea was copied from Libor Horeni, the owner of Dobro Kava, in Brno, Czech Republic. He sets up a coffee cart in Cabbage Market Square and gives out “free” coffee, at least monetary wise. The coffee is paid by doing a kindness of choice for someone else. I was the recipient of a “free” four ounce mocha in 2019 and its warm memory helped me start Project: In Kind.

Why We Need Project: In Kind
Project: In Kind was formed in 2019 as a response to the many mass shootings that occurred. We see the flowers, the grieving friends and relatives, the online support offering prayers. But nothing stops the next shooting. Out of frustration, we asked ourselves, “What can we DO?” We wondered if the shooter had one person be kind to him at a crucial time in his life, perhaps it would have changed the situation. Project: In Kind is something we and you can DO to help the world be a better place.
